Day 1 : Hanoi - Mai Chau (160km) This Vietnam motorcycle tour to Sapa starts at around 8am in the eastern suburbs of Hanoi. Once we leave the Red River delta, which is characterized by traditional agriculture, we pass limestone monoliths and enter the foothills inhabited by the Muong people. We continue straight towards the main range before crossing a high and beautiful forested pass that descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau, where we spend the night with friends in a traditional Thai stilt house in Lac village. Overnight stay in the stilt house. Day 2 : Mai Chau - Son La (200km ) On a good road with views of distant mountains, we head up into a forested region populated by the H'mong people before descending into a mountainous tea-growing area. Soon after, we follow a long valley floor covered by a sea of rice, surrounded by Black Thai villages, to Son La with its market where bargains abound. Overnight at the hotel in Son La Day 3: Son La - Dien Bien Phu (200Km) After breakfast, we will go to the former battlefield - Dien Bien Phu is one of the most remote areas in Vietnam, famous for the Vietnamese-French war. Crossing Pha Din Pass, we will reach Tuan Giao, where we will have a lunch break. Upon arrival in Dien Bien Phu, we visit Muong Thanh Bridge and Dien Bien Phu Prison, where many Vietnamese patriots were imprisoned during the Vietnam-French War. Overnight at hotel in Dien Bien Phu. Day 4 : Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau (200Km) The most challenging and remote section of the ride takes us upstream along the left side of a tributary of the Black River through the forest on a bumpy dirt road, passing scattered settlements of Tay, Thai, H'mong and Man peoples before crossing a pass to enter the Tam Duong plain, covered with shark's teeth like limestone karts. We will visit a Mang village near Sin Ho, and you can help the local people by buying their handmade products. Overnight at hotel in Tam Duong - Lai Chau Day 5: Lai Chau - Sapa -(75Km) Today you will have the opportunity to visit Sapa, one of the most beautiful tourist cities in Vietnam, which more and more people want to visit at least once in their life. Day 6: Sapa -Luc Yen - Yen Bai (180Km) Drive down from Sapa and then through the palm forest all the way to Luc Yen to visit a Dao- Family who lives in the Tay area. It is a great place to stay, very typical of Vietnamese hill tribes and the hosts are very hospitable. It will be a longer day with about six hours on the road. Explore the Luc Yen area and visit your friends' families before heading to the village of of your Dao friends in Vu Linh. The hosts are "drinkers of Vietnam" and love to party. The welcome is exceptional and we hope you are not too tired. Day 7 : Vu Linh - Hanoi (180 km ) After breakfast, drive southeast on Highway 2 and then turn into the sleepy town of Phu Tho. You will follow the bank of the Red River along the embankment, almost to the point where it joins the Black River and then flows together to Hanoi. You are now in the lowlands of the delta plains and the main agricultural areas of the north. At harvest time, these areas are bustling with activity. You will cross the Black River on a bridge, pass through Son Tay and then take the highway back to Hanoi. On your last day, you will drive for about six hours. The tour will end in Hanoi afterwards.
