4. Imperial city Hue

Hue, as the former imperial capital of Vietnam, is of great historical importance and beauty. The heart of the city is the Citadel, an impressive fortress surrounded by a deep moat. Inside the citadel is the Forbidden Purple City. This is the third site listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in our list. Hue is also known for its royal mausoleums scattered along the Perfume River and the Thien Mu Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hue. A pagoda is a distinctive, multi-level, tower-like structure that used to house the remains of enlightened Buddhist monks.
